Keeping Kids Active All Summer Long at High Velocity Sports

Kids ages 5-14 who are interested in sports can enjoy soccer, basketball, backyard games and much more at High Velocity Sports in Canton.

For kids who like to stay active, High Velocity Sports in Canton offers an all-sports summer camp that gives boys and girls of any skill level an opportunity for exercise, competition and fun.

Campers ages 5-14 participate in age-appropriate games and activities including soccer, basketball, volleyball, Capture the Flag, dodge ball and backyard games. They rotate activities every 30 to 40 minutes throughout the day. Plus, they’ll get a chance to play in the Inflatable Fun Zone twice per day.

“These activities keep them active all summer long,” says Elaine Matthews, the director of marketing for High Velocity Sports. “If a kid doesn’t like a particular sport or activity, it’s over in 30 to 40 minutes and they are playing something else.”

Summer camp is held at High Velocity’s 110,000-square-foot sports center on Michigan Avenue in Canton. There are four basketball courts, three boarded soccer fields and an attached dome. It is run by experienced staff, each trained in First Aid and also CPR and AED certified.

“Our camp offers parents a lot of flexibility. They can sign up their children for a day, including half-days or full-days, or a week and they can even sign up the day of camp,” Matthews says. “The schedule can be customized to the needs of each family.”

Early drop-off and late pick-up are available, offering parents the ability to drop their campers off as early as 7:15 a.m. and pick them up as late as 6 p.m. Matthews says outside of the 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. camp hours, kids are in the golf simulator area of the building where they can watch movies, read, bring electronics, color and play games.

Kids also have a break for lunch. Hot lunch and snacks are available for an additional charge.

The camp requires an active membership at High Velocity Sports, which is $20 per individual or $40 per family. Weekly half-day rates are $115 while the full-day option is $195. The half-day daily rate is $27 and the full-day daily rate is $43.

The High Velocity All-Sports Camp runs Monday through Friday from June 18 through Aug. 31 – with no camp on July 4.

For those interested in specialty sports programs in areas like soccer, lacrosse and basketball, sport-specific camps are run at High Velocity Sports throughout the summer.
