What We Nurture: The Spirituality of Parenting with NPR’s Krista Tippett

A conversation on teaching and loving kids in a complex world with Krista Tippett and Sylvia Boorstein, the author, psychotherapist and teacher.

We’ve got a great gift for you. Our lovely evening with NPR’s OnBeing host Krista Tippett and self-help author Sylvia Boorstein, called “What We Nurture,” is now available in video below. It’s the perfect thing for moms – a conversation on loving and teaching children in a complex world and a centering meditation for harried moms. We hope you enjoy it as much as our guests did in February 2011.

About the show

Krista Tippett and her guest, author, psychotherapist and teacher, Sylvia Boorstein enlightened a full house of 300 guests in a lively conversation on children, parenting and the deep traditions that can nourish modern families at the Community House in Birmingham on Feb. 15, 2011.

Krista Tippett is a journalist, author and Peabody-award-winning broadcaster. As the creator and host of the public radio program and podcast “On Being,” she has innovated a new model of intelligent, in-depth conversation about religion, ethics and large questions of meaning every aspect of life.

Sylvia Boorstein brings together Jewish tradition and thought with a lifelong Buddhist practice. She is a co-founder of the Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California and author most recently of Happiness Is an Inside Job. Her work is informed by her years as a teacher of mindfulness meditation and her experience as a parent.
