The Lion King at the Detroit Opera House

The animal kingdom invites you to join them at Pride Rock, in celebration of the arrival of the lion cub Simba, and watch the story of his life as it all comes full circle. Enter the world of the Serengeti, and catch the Tony Award-winning show The Lion King at the Detroit Opera House Feb.1-26, 2017.

More than 80 million people worldwide have experienced this production, which has enjoyed uproarious acclaim and applause – and six Tony Awards to its name.

The experience is set to be simply awe-inspiring, featuring immaculately crafted sets, backdrops and costumes. Audiences will find themselves engulfed by the magnificence of the stagecraft excellence.

The work of award-winning choreographer Garth Fagan ensures that talented dancers and actors will become leaping gazelles, swooping birds, strutting giraffes and prowling lions.

Critically acclaimed Broadway legends Elton John and Tim Rice are credited with the classic songs that drive this story of loss, hope, family and growing up.

Shake off any stress by catching up with the fun-loving characters Timon and Pumbaa belting out “Hakuna Matata,” get excited about the promise of the future as young Simba pesters his persnickety advisor Zazu about how he “Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” and answer the question “Can You Feel The Love Tonight?” when Simba runs into his childhood friend Nala after years apart.

This captivating tale is filled to the brim with heart and artistry. Regardless of whether you’ve never heard this story or you remember watching the movie on VHS, it’s certainly worth your time.
