The Rocket Store for Toys, Novelty Gifts, Candy

The Rocket – a one-stop toy, novelty, gift and candy store already a fave in Ypsilanti – has zoomed over to open its second location in downtown Ferndale.

What’s its deal? Take a huge scoop of retro, add a little pop culture, sprinkle in some humor and shake until it explodes – there you have The Rocket, which opened in December. Co-owner Eli Morrissey says, “People often refer to our store as an FAO Schwarz for adults – yet it engages kids at the same time.”

Get lost in this small shop, which is stocked to the ceiling with a mountain of eye candy. Morrissey says, “All kinds of people – all demographics shop the store. There is something for everyone.” He should know: He’s an uncle to 22 lucky kids!

It’s multi-generational, too. Mom and daughter will go crazy for the Hello Kitty swag, dad and son will battle over Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles gear – and everyone loves stocking up on bulk and retro candy. Find anything from Michigan-themed onesies for baby to bacon bandages for grandpa. Now’s the perfect time to stop in and check out some new cool springtime stock.
