Expectant Mom Opens Elaine B. Jewelry in Ferndale

At Elaine B. Jewelry, Elaine Jaeger's new storefront in Oakland County, the mom-to-be creates one-of-a-kind pieces.

Elaine Jaeger is living her dream. The Ferndale mom-to-be has combined her love of the handmade movement and with her killer entrepreneurial skills to open her first storefront, Elaine B. Jewelry, in Ferndale.

“It’s always been a dream of mine,” she says. “I’ve been doing (jewelry designing) full time for five years now.”

After relocating from Charlottesville, Virginia to Michigan with her husband, Jaeger found a space to rent in Detroit’s Cass Corridor. But when she found out she was pregnant, she decided it was time to work a bit closer to her Ferndale home.

“I would love to be part of the community and have a beautiful space that people can come and look at stones and talk about jewelry and materials.”

And that’s just what she has today. Her store features a mix of fine and bridal jewelry, alternative and dainty pieces and more wearable everyday jewelry that boasts a geometric flair.

“It’s primarily the jewelry that we design and make but there’s a few other gifts and design items,” including artwork, furniture and candles.

With the birth of her first child right around the corner, Jaeger is happy she’s able to maintain her autonomy and career while embarking on the journey to motherhood.

“I’m really lucky to be able to form my work life into what I want it to be.”
