Wyandotte Street Art Fair 50th Anniversary

It’s the big 5-0 for the cool Wyandotte Street Art Fair! And, to celebrate, kids get loads of goodies during this four-day event, set for July 13-16, 2011.

Creativity is king with a trio of can’t-miss activities. Make cool magnets with the Detroit Institute of Arts, hosting 10 a.m.-9 p.m. workshops daily. Or get DIY-crafty at interactive stations with Arts & Scraps, the local nonprofit that recycles everything into whatever a child’s imagination can create (find them noon-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday). And be sure to hit the Children’s Emporium, where kids with an eye for art can buy items at a reduced rate. That’s happening noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The ‘dotte also stocks 250 artists of every kind, including glass jewelry, photography, pottery and sculpture. Plus catch the Clock Tower Crafters, a comic book area, vintage finds in “Retro Row,” daily entertainment – and classic fair eats, from elephant ears to Italian sausage to organic dishes.
