Spring Break Makerspaces at Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum

Do your busy little scholars have a week off now or in the near future? In honor of the April 2014 spring break season, the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum hosts Pop-Up Makerspace events that are a perfect way to fill those vacant weekdays with some fun structured activities. And naturally, since this is Washtenaw County's big STEM hands-on destination for kids, you can bet they'll still be exercising those noggins, too!

Activities are set for two separate date spans – April 7-11 and April 21-25, both Mondays-Fridays. It's geared at kids starting around ages 4 or 5, the AAHOM tells us, and those into their tweens will also find it fun.

With the Pop-Up Makerspace concept, each week offers a different type of design challenge. It all drives home the idea of engineering and innovation in a cool hands-on way. Kids design something, build it, test it and then even deconstruct it. Keep in mind the themes may vary, focused on building anything from bridges to towers to vehicles. As the AAHOM promises on its website, "You never know!"

The action happens 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Legacy Gallery, an area filled with simple hands-on machines. And it's included in the price of general admission, which is $11 per person (free if you're a member).
