Recess! Family Music Festival at the Meadow Brook Music Festival in Rochester Hills

School is out and it's time for Recess! For the first time ever, the Recess! Family Music Festival visits Rochester Hills. Dan Zanes & Friends, Candy Band, The Laurie Berkner Band and The Verve Pipe are just a few of the family-friendly acts that will be featured at Recess!

Between performances, make music together as a family! Write and record your own song or let your little rock stars play their favorite instrument. The daylong event offers many creative activities to engage children's imaginations, (great for ages 4-9) during the event. Your kiddos can learn to rhyme, beat box and scratch – or join in on the drum circle as a family and learn how to use percussion instruments.

If your child wants to look like a rock star, they will have a chance to get temporary tattoos and punk rock hairdos – and get their picture taken. Kids will be able to make their own instrument out of wood to take home, too.

Recess! is designed to be socially and environmentally responsible. It offers children opportunities to be creative in the areas of music, movement and art and move away from the throwaway culture of iPods, Xbox and YouTube that our children are born into.

The fun takes place 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are $25 for the lawn and the pavilion. Purchase a family four-pack for $75, as well.
