Oktoberfest at the Carpathia Club in Sterling Heights

Travel to Germany without leaving the state. No, we're not talking about visiting Frankenmuth. Instead, head to the annual Oktoberfest at the Carpathia Club of Sterling Heights.

Get your fix of Bavaria – without a passport or spending hours in the car – at this annual shebang, taking place Sept. 14-16, 2012. Whether you've got German ancestry or you're simply looking to experience a weekend of food, and brews (for mom and dad!), don’t miss this year's Oktoberfest.

This Macomb County favorite brings the sights and sounds of Germany to metro Detroit. So, get acquainted with authentic German food and music – which are predominant in the weekend's activities.

Dance off those calories from all the delicious eats on the big wooden floor – which is located under the tent and will feature dancing and folk music performances.

The weekend shows include the Freddy Ziwich Band on Friday, Sorgenbrecher and Martin Brothers on Saturday, Hank Haller and Enzian on Sunday.

This tent boasts a lot more than a dance floor and performances. There's a kids play area just for the little ones.

Hey mom and dad: What's Oktoberfest without beer? Authentic imports and domestic beers will be available for purchase. Authentic German food and pastries will be sold under the tent, too.

The festival takes place rain (thanks to the tent!) or shine – and times are as follows:

  • Friday: 5-11 p.m.
  • Saturday: 2-11 p.m.
  • Sunday: noon-10 p.m.

See the Metro Parent listing for more information on the 2012 Oktoberfest at the Carpathia Club of Sterling Heights.
