How to Make a Paper Plate Leaf Wreath

The big Thanksgiving holiday is just a week and a half away and taking a look outside you’re reminded that fall is starting to make way for the next season, winter. Before the temperatures dip even further, it’s a fun idea to send your children outside and have them embrace those fallen leaves that autumn presents us with. After leaf jumping has been enjoyed, bring the leaf fun back indoors with by making a paper plate leaf wreath.

Ready-to-use paper leaves, like these die-cut shapes from Paper Source, can be found at most craft stores. When grouped together on the base of a paper plate, you’ve got the makings of a charming autumnal decoration your child helped create.

Materials

  • Die-cut paper leaves
  • Gold salad size paper plate (or gold paint to add to a white paper plate)
  • Ribbon
  • Double-sided tape
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Small bowl

Instructions

To get started, turn a small bowl upside down and place in the center of your paper plate. Trace the shape of the bowl with a pencil.

Cut out the circle you just traced with your scissors.

Add a piece of ribbon to use as a hanger to the top of the wreath. Tack into place with double-sided tape.

To decorate the wreath, try covering the inside of the accessory with the paper leaves to cover any rough edges. After that, it’s up to your child to call the decorating shots!
