Bug Bites Snack

Tired of those insatiable little insects that feast during the warm months in southeast Michigan? Well, now parents and kids can chomp back – without so much as hurting a fly! – with the crafty Bug Bites Snack.

This super-cute recipe comes from Shannon Payette Seip and Kelly Parthen, the kids’ cooking gurus behind Bean Sprouts. In their clever book Bean Appétit: Hip and Healthy Ways to Have Fun with Food. Featuring darling details like pita bread wings, a turkey rollup body and little matchstick carrots for antennae, it incorporates oodles of children’s favorite foods. Not to mention, it’s incredibly easy – and fun! – for them to get in on the prep work in the kitchen with mom or dad.

Definitely better smelling (and tasting!) than bug spray, the Bug Bite Snack is a primo appetizer to create with your own little critters.
