September is back-to-school season – the time of year for parent-teacher conferences, well-worn markers and teens getting disciplined (well, sort of). Here’s a mix of five stats, facts and figures Metro Parent found to help metro Detroit moms and dads ring in the first month of fall.

This many new lead-free, filtered water drinking fountains and bottle filling stations were being installed at schools throughout Oakland County over the summer, thanks to a program funded by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners.
