Clinton Township Mom Barbara Lasecki-Webb

Barb and Kristen Lasecki-Webb welcomed their first child in early March after an eventful pregnancy that, among other things, left Barb without a job and with plenty of publicity. (After announcing her “untraditional” pregnancy, Barb was fired from the Catholic school where she worked.) Despite the trials they endured, the pair got the best present they could hope for in the end – sweet Piper Joy.

Gender reveal? No. We wanted to be surprised so we waited.

Favorite maternity clothes store: Target and Old Navy.

Pregnancy cravings: Tim Hortons doughnuts and Iced Capps – although I tried resist because of the caffeine.

Labor and delivery experience: Piper was born at 7:37 p.m. after only about 30-40 minutes of pushing. Many of our friends and family were still rushing to get there. I also remember asking for a Big Mac once delivery was over!

Favorite store for baby stuff: Target and Buy Buy Baby.

Hospital stay prep tips: Create a birth plan, but be flexible.

Favorite baby gift: Boppy pillow – to die for.

Tips for the early weeks: Don’t give up on breast-feeding. Once it works for the both of you, you’ll look forward to your one-on-one time with your precious baby.

Favorite web source: Enfamil, Mom365 and Babies “R” Us send me monthly news.

Best part of raising a family in Clinton Township: We are within walking distance from my mother’s house. I’m also back in the school district (Fraser) through which I attended school.

Special perspective: You will have to make sacrifices. I sacrificed my job, as I was fired once I let my administration know I was pregnant. All of that aside, once you hold your baby, and she starts to recognize you and smile at you – all of those sacrifices are worth it.
