Angela Howard knows a thing or two about TLC and teens. She’s a registered nurse with two sons – and founder of Lots of Love (LOL) Care Packages.
It all started after both of Howard’s boys, now 23 and 30, went off to college and soon wound up pining for their favorite treats. “I would box up their goodies and send them along with a note letting them know I was thinking of them,” the Ann Arbor mom says. This classic practice grew into a web-based service that helps busy parents do the same.
LOL now offers seven different care packages full of single-serve granola bars, candies, raisins, gum, soup, chips, applesauce and even the staple Ramen noodles. There’s an option to send a love note, too, and allergy-sensitive considerations.

“It’s a way a family member can send them something to put a smile on their face,” she says. In between packages, this gift-giving guru recommends sending kids things they need like gift cards, socks, undershirts and, of course, money.
