Brandenburg Park, a waterfront park located in Chesterfield is a great place to go on a family day trip.

The park, situated next to Lake St. Clair is home to several amenities that help the family fun last all day long, including several places to play sports, explore, eat, partake in other outdoor activities, host or participate in fun events or just take it easy. 

General Information

Daily Entry Fees: $5 for cars, with or without trailers, and motorcycles; $10 for buses

Season Passes: For those in cars without trailers, passes cost $8 for Michigan residents 62 years or older, $14 for all other residents as well as non-residents 62 years or older and $19 for all other non-residents. For those in cars with trailers, passes cost $11 for Michigan residents 62 years or older, $22 for all other residents as well as non-residents 62 years or older and $30 for all other non-residents.

Where and How to Play:

There are many fun ways for kids of all ages to burn off their energy at Brandenburg. The park has a playground and a splash pad, as well as basketball, volleyball, pickleball and tennis courts. There are plenty of activities to do by Lake St. Clair as well. The waterfront boasts a fishing pier and boat launches. If you prefer a leisurely stroll, the park also has a paved walking path or watch the park’s birdlife. Keep in mind, though, that while the park is open year round, some amenities are closed during the off-season.

The Shoreline Clubhouse, which fits 75 people, can be rented for private usage. Along with the usual amenities, Brandenburg, like other parks in Chesterfield, also hosts family-friendly social events of its own throughout the year, including holiday celebrations, friendly competitions, parties, outdoor concerts, outdoor yoga, sports clinics and more. Some events require registration, so make sure to plan accordingly.

Where to Eat:

If you want to bring your own food to eat inside the park, you can use any of the picnic tables, grills and four different pavilions, which you can rent and reserve. If you want to eat somewhere outside the park, here are seven restaurants within 15 minutes of Brandenburg where you and your family can grab a bite during your fun-filled day.

Maple Spot 

Maple Spot is great for the groups who love a good brunch.

Hours: 7 a.m.-3 p.m. daily.

Sugarbush Tavern

Sugarbush Tavern is a full-service restaurant and bar with an extensive menu of local favorites — famous ribs, seafood, wings and BBQ.

Location: 27900 21 Mile Road, Chesterfield
Hours: 11 a.m.-midnight Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Friday-Saturday; 11 a.m.-midnight Sunday.

Feast

This chef-driven scratch kitchen is led by Chef McKay, offering seasonal, made-from-scratch cuisine in an inviting setting with a Chef’s Table experience.

Hours: 4-10 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday; 4-11 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m.-11 p.m Saturday; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday; closed Monday-Tuesday.

Amore’s Grill and Spirits

Amore’s Grill & Spirits offers a warm, family-friendly atmosphere where you can dine and relax — offering a full menu, rotating specials and even better libations for the adults in your group.

Hours: 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday

Blind Owl Restaurant and Bar 

Blind Owl brings together casual dining and community in New Baltimore, serving up a welcoming space for great food, drinks and gatherings.

Zorba the Greek Taverna

Rules and Policies:

When visiting Brandenburg, or any park located in Chesterfield Township, make sure to follow the park rules, which can be viewed in more detail in the Parks and Recreation Code of Ordinances, including this 2023 amendment. Here is a basic list of general park rules to abide by during your visit:

  • Dogs must be kept on leashes, cleaned up after and kept within areas of the park that allow them.
  • Children under 10 are not allowed on the pier without adult supervision.
  • Littering, bill posting, conducting commercial business without permission, setting fires within the park outside of designated places, improper disposal of hot ashes, vandalism, climbing on park property, harming the park’s animal and plant life, disorderly conduct and excessive noise are not allowed.
  • Alcohol and other controlled substances, livestock, dangerous objects like weaponry, explosives and fireworks, unlicensed or unauthorized vehicles of any kind and objects or devices that produce excessive noise are not allowed in the park or the adjacent pier.
  • Organized gatherings consisting of more than 50 people are not allowed without permission from the Township Board.
