The annual Autism Swim Day, in partnership with EMU's Autism Collaborative Center, provides families living with autism an opportunity to enjoy access to the water park in a safe, judgement-free environment.

Adaptive Recreation Friday Night Dance Party at the Washington Township Municipal BuildingÂ

"Welcome Spring" is the theme of this Friday night dance for adults and young adults with special needs or developmental disabilities. Included in the evening is music by a DJ, dancing and door prizes.
Adults with developmental disabilities enjoy music, dancing food and tons of Independence Day fun. Advance registration required.
People who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind or who have other special needs enjoy an accessible performance of the Shakespearean classic. Ages 14-plus.

This event features Mexican-style food, music and dancing for adults with developmental disabilities. Advance registration required.
Kids and adults with special needs or sensory processing disorders enjoy a yummy pizza dinner, which comes complete with salad, dessert, pop and popcorn, and then kick back and watch a movie. Bring a DVD to vote on. Ages 14-plus. Registration required.
Registered therapy dogs will be at the library on Saturday, March 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. to listen to children read to them in a one-to-one setting. It is fun and helps improve reading skills because the dog listens attentively and does not judge, laugh or criticize.

The theater offers a special sensory-friendly movie experience select days of each month. Swing by on March 9 to see How to Train Your Dragon 3 (rated PG) and stop by again on March 23 for a showing of Captain Marvel (rated PG-13).

"Sensory-Friendly Saturday" offers accessible programming opportunities to patrons and their families needing special accommodations. The event features a hands-on experience with brass instruments through our Instrument Petting Zoo program. Following the zoo there will be a 30-minute performance by the string quartet.

People of all ages who have autism spectrum disorders are invited to this fair for a day of crafts, swimming, inflatables and more. Plus, there's an informational fair for caretakers.
