At the height of the coronavirus pandemic as other businesses were eyeing an unsure future, Alexis Sims, a mom of a toddler, did just the opposite: She opened her Detroit-based online business, LeafMe plant boutique. Â
She delivers tropical houseplants to homes guaranteed to lift spirits as well as on-site plant styling consultations to help customers pick just the right plants for them and their space. She even offers repotting services (for the win!).
“Plants became a cheap form of therapy for me after my mother gifted me two plants as a house-warming gift. From there, my personal plant collection grew from two to 35 and eventually the inspiration behind my business,” she says. Now, she’s eager to help others.
