Smash a bumper car, jump in a trampoline room or race to the top of a rock wall alongside your little ones at the new Urban Air Adventure Park in Sterling Heights.
Longtime friends Wes Ayar, dad to 4- and 2-year-old daughters, and Andy Batal, who has 6-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son, opened shop together in October.
“It was the perfect thing to bring to the community that I currently live and shop and work in,” Ayar says. “It’s physical activity, and it’s fun for the entire family – so to bring that concept to our community has been great.”
The new facility joins the Dallas-based company’s other local franchise in Oxford (a Livonia spot is also coming soon). It boasts a full-service cafe and intense obstacle courses, virtual reality games, a zip line, a suspended roller coaster and more. Parents can also get a package deal for birthday parties and other special events.
A trip to Pennsylvania sparked the idea for Ayar and Batal to bring the fun to Macomb County. “We took the kids to an Urban Air Adventure Park location in Pennsylvania and they loved it,” Ayar says, “and I loved that instead of being a parent who just sits there and watches, I was able to participate.
“The response has been fantastic,” he adds. “We have a membership program that has grown tremendously already.”
While the new business is a hit, Ayar says nothing beats seeing the excitement of his own kids when they show up to play.
