The Rink at Campus Martius Park Ice Skating in Detroit

Bring the entire family to the heart of downtown to enjoy some old-fashioned winter fun at The Rink at Campus Martius Park, Nov. 22, 2019-March 8, 2020.

Downtown Detroit’s urban oasis, Campus Martius Park, turns to a winter wonderland every year in mid-November when the The Rink at Campus Martius Park opens.

Following the Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 tree lighting, when thousands of Detroiters and suburbanites meet in the park to see the Christmas tree all aglow, skate and keep toasty with some warm grub through the winter season.

Even if you can’t make the grand opening, don’t sweat it. This outdoor ice rink, modeled after the one at Rockefeller Center in the Big Apple, is open daily until March 8, 2020, this 2019-20 season.

Day and evening hours let you chose the perfect time for the entire family to practice their figure eights or experiment their very first glides.

Once the tummies start to rumble, stop by one of the many eateries within walking distance. PARC is located at the edge of the ice rink (although this spot is a better fit for a date night with your boo), and Greektown is only a People-Mover ride away.

You can rent skates for $5, or bring your own and stash your shoes for a fee. Admission rates for skaters are $10/adults, $8/kids and seniors. You can also get a monthly lunchtime pass for just $30.

Rink hours are as follows:

  • Monday-Thursday: 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
