Aqua Freeze Festival in St. Clair Shores

The Macomb County festival celebrates the freezing weather with a Mardi Gras theme and new kid-friendly events, Feb. 17-18, 2018, at Blossom Heath Park.

Think you’re brave enough to run and jump in the cold water of Lake St. Clair? Take the polar plunge – back for a fourth year – at the Aqua Freeze Festival at St. Clair Shores’ Blossom Heath Park, Feb. 17-18, 2018.

The family-oriented fest features new activities this year including a snowman building contest and fowling competitions – but brings back some fan favorites like the polar plunge.

The plunge takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday and costs $25. Participants must fill out a form available here. The organizers recommend wearing footwear during the plunge.

Other fan-favorites this year include ice carving, carriage rides and a craft and vender show. There will also be a kids craft area 10 a.m.-2 p.m. both days; plus a petting zoo and pony rides. And new this year will be a fowling competition. See the police go head-to-head with the city and parks & rec. take on the residents.

If the February cold is too much for you, warm up in the heated music tent while listening to live music from classic rock to DJ Jams. Or, mom and dads can heat up inside the beer and wine tent and enjoy a few adult beverages while you’re at it. For alumni of high schools in the St. Clair Shores area like Lakeview High School and St. Isaac, the beer tent will also serve as an informal reunion spot.

The Aqua Freeze Festival will be held 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
