How to Make a Craft Stick Rudolph

By this time in the holiday season you may have already watched Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer once. Or maybe more than that, and with good reason! With that shiny nose of his that helps Santa Claus save the day, Rudolph has to be one of the most well-known Christmas characters out there. His lovable spirit is something we can all admire! Show off your Rudolph fandom by making your own simple reindeer by way of plain craft sticks.

Materials

  • 3 wooden craft sticks
  • Stiff craft felt in brown
  • 2 googly eyes
  • 1 brown pipe cleaner
  • 2 red pompom
  • Tacky glue
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Craft paint in brown
  • Paintbrush

Instructions

To get started, paint the fronts of all three of the wooden craft sticks with brown paint and let dry. Have fun with the shade of brown you choose – there are so many options in the paint aisles at craft supply stores! Once the paint is completely dry, make a triangle shape out of the sticks by gluing the pieces together at the corners. Again, let dry.

With your felt, place the stick triangle on top of the fabric and trace around the outline with a marker. Cut out the felt. Turn your stick triangle over and apply tacky glue all over the back. Position on top of the felt and press into place. Let dry.

To create antlers for your Rudolph, cut a brown pipe cleaner in half. Bend the pipe cleaners in opposite directions to create the look of antlers.

Your favorite holiday friend is almost ready! Cut two small slits toward the top of Rudolph’s head to slide the antlers through. Secure into place by pinching the pipe cleaners to the back of the piece.

With tacky glue, add two googly eyes on the felt and one bright red nose, courtesy of the pompom, to the bottom of the stick triangle.
