How to Make Autumn Washi Tape Jewelry

While many of us may still be putting the finishing touches on this year’s Halloween costumes, it’s a good idea to start thinking about fall and Thanksgiving crafting, too. After all, you and your child’s cooler-weather clothing could use some autumnal pizazz! But unlike big holidays, you can’t always find a “fall” necklace or bracelet at the store. Luckily, your child can make one in just a matter of minutes thanks to every crafter’s go-to supply: washi tape.

This collection of leaf washi tape from Paper Source caught my eye recently during a visit to their Birmingham location. I love the bright colors being used as a fun play on traditional autumn color variations. To show off these fun designs, your child can make a washi-designed pin to show off at school on Nov. 1.

Instructions

To get started, rip off pieces of the washi tape and start applying them to the paper to create your design. You could make stripes, add only one piece, etc. It’s all about to you.

Next, turn your paper over and place your wooden disc down where the design resides on the opposite side. Trace around the disc with your pencil and cut out.

Using your tacky glue, add some to the center of one side of the disc. Spread the glue all over the surface using your finger. Add the washi design on top of the glue and smooth into place. Let dry.

Finish your autumn pin by attaching a pinback to the blank side of the wooden disc using the tacky glue. Let the piece dry pinback side up until completely dry.
