Walter P. Chrysler Museum Re-opens to the Public

The museum will re-open on select weekends in 2016. Here's what families can expect to experience here!

The Walter P. Chrysler Museum closed to the public in 2012, but now Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is re-opening the museum’s doors for select weekends in 2016.

“We have such a rich heritage that we’re proud of and wanted to provide an opportunity to showcase our automotive contributions to a broader audience,” says Lenise McWhorter, the manager of museum operations.

The museum opens on the weekend of June 4-5, 2016, and there is tons of fun to experience here.

Check out more than 65 concept, antique and custom vehicles showcased at the museum, located at One Chrysler Drive in Auburn Hills.

The first 50 years of Chrysler, the man and the company, are featured on the first floor. Learn about how the company came to be and about the rare cars dating back to the early 1900s.

On the second floor, learn about how the company grew from 1951 on, starting with the first HEMI. Look at the designs by the automaker, as well as all of the successes they had with their engineering and marketing.

The lower level, named Boss Chrysler’s Garage, showcases classic cars from the ’60s and ’70s, as well as Jeeps, trucks and muscle cars.

Spend the day showing the kids the history of one of Detroit’s Big 3, as well as looking at all the classic cars admired for generations.

And check out the fun, auto-related activities with the kids, such as building a car out of building blocks, building puzzles and looking at books in the Children’s Design Corner.
