Ford Fireworks 2020 To Be Held as a Special Televised Event

The Fourth of July tradition was canceled due to COVID but is coming back this August with a special televised experience. Get specifics on Ford Fireworks 2020 here.

A longstanding Michigan tradition will look a little different this year, as a result of the response to the COVID-19 crisis.

The 2020 Ford Fireworks, themed “We Are One Together,” will be celebrated as a televised-only show. The unique broadcast on WDIV Local 4 will honor Detroit’s frontline workers and local heroes, live from 8-10 p.m. on Monday, August 31.

The decision to host the televised-only event was made with public safety in mind, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fireworks display will not be held downtown or be viewable from the downtown area. Similar to other major cities, the fireworks will be a pop-up display, at an undisclosed location.

The Ford Fireworks, a local summer tradition now in its 62nd year, is produced by The Parade Company. The Parade Company selects musical arrangements and works with Zambelli Fireworks to stage more than 10,000 pyrotechnic effects.
