The Annual Storytelling Festival at The Ark in Ann Arbor

On Feb. 22-23, 2020, adults and kids gather for live folktales by local storytellers at the 33rd annual Storytelling Festival at The Ark in Ann Arbor.

Is your child the kind of kid that always totes a beloved book and simply needs a story before bed? Then he or she will love the Storytelling Festival at The Ark in Ann Arbor.

This 33rd annual features original stories and beloved traditional folktales performed by orators, and it returns to Tree Town Feb. 22-23, 2020.

Saturday, Feb. 22, teens and adults can take “a journey to the land of the minds eye” with performances by world-renowned writers and performers including Antonio Rocha, Anne Rutherford, Norm Brecke, and Barbara Schutzgruber.

The next day, Sunday, Feb. 23, kids get a chance to visit the fantasy worlds spun by these same talents in a more interactive, fun and age-appropriate way.

Story topics include traditional tales, personal narratives, autobiographical works, traditional African folktales and much more.

The 33rd annual Storytelling Festival kicks off at 7 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for kids. Doors open a half an hour prior to the first performance.
