Pop-Up Rainbow City Roller Rink in Detroit

Got an itch for family fun on four wheels? Head to the pop-up Rainbow City Roller Rink on Woodward in Detroit, open Nov. 30, 2018-Jan. 27, 2019.

Do you have a hankering for some old-school fun? Then bust out your quads and head to Detroit’s newest pop-up skating spot, Rainbow City Roller Rink, Nov. 30, 2018 -Jan. 27, 2019.

This 5,280-square-foot skating spot – conceptualized by Detroit-based art gallery Library Street Collective and paid for by Bedrock and the Quicken Loans Community Fund – is nestled on the ground floor of 1001 Woodward Ave. in Detroit, near the city’s beloved Campus Martius Park.

Guests can either bring their own gear or borrow some free of charge and skate their winter nights away on the spot’s retro-style striped floor – but that’s not all.

Skaters will be treated to an art show, too.

Look up as you’re there and you’ll see eight colorful, super-cute inflated sculptures –including a 30-foot rotating head – created by Los Angeles-based artists Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III of FriendsWithYou.

Rainbow City Roller Rink is open from 2-9 p.m. Wednesdays-Sundays, Nov. 30, 2018- Jan. 27, 2019. Admission to the rink is free on a first-come, first-served basis.
