Michigan is now home to the nation's longest canopy walk. Learn where it's at and all the details you need to make a day trip out of it.

Feel like getting into nature – literally? Take a day trip and experience the nation’s longest canopy walk at the Whiting Forest of Dow Gardens in Midland, which is just two hours north of Detroit.

Guests that visit and choose to do the canopy walk will get unique and breathtaking views as they traverse 1,400 feet of ADA accessible bridges that span 54 acres of forest, meadows and ponds from 25 feet in the sky.

The daring will even get to take a look at the 104 species of apple trees from more than 40 feet up and kick back in cargo nets that are located 25 feet up a grove of spruce trees.

But that’s not all. Kids and grown-ups that are afraid of heights or who aren’t really into this attraction can explore the pollinator, herb, rose and color gardens; play together in the Children’s Garden or wander the Stream Walk.

In addition, guests can take part in weekly scavenger hunts, forest classroom exploration stations, construction displays and more.

Whiting Forest of Dow Gardens is open year-round. Daily admission to the garden is $5 for adults. Drop-in visits are welcome Monday-Friday but reservations are required on the weekends.
