Washi Tape Pencil Pouch Kids School Craft

Do you still need to pick up a few extra school supplies for the students in your life? If a pencil pouch is on your child’s shopping list, have them try making one instead. Thanks to colorful washi tape and Con-Tact paper, a household organizing staple, creating a durable pencil pouch can be done in minutes. Make several pouches in different heights and widths to keep desks and lockers organized.

Materials

  • 1 sheet of cardstock
  • 2 rolls of washi tape (1 print, 1 solid)
  • 1 roll of duct tape
  • Scissors
  • Clear Con-Tact paper
  • 2 sets of magnets
1. Start by decorating your piece of cardstock with the washi tape on one side. I used this “colored pencil” washi tape (find online at Cute Tape or here in metro Detroit at Paper Source in Birmingham).
2. Trim any excess tape off the paper.
3. Cut two sheets of Con-Tact paper slightly bigger than your cardstock. Remove the backing and place your cardstock, design-side down, on the sticky side of one piece. Add the second piece to the plain side of your cardstock and smooth out any air bubbles.
4. Trim the excess Con-Tact paper.
5. Fold your cardstock in half.
6. Add a piece of solid washi tape to either side of the pouch to secure. Trim the excess. Cut two small pieces of Con-Tact paper and cover the solid washi tape you just added.
7. Cut four small squares of duct tape and place a magnet on each one.
8. Add a set to the inside of your pouch on either side.
